A little planning. A more relaxed host.

We bring the care.
You bring the company.

From the right glass to the last practical detail, here’s how we plan a private tasting together.

Shape your experience
What does The Cape Pour bring?

We plan the tasting around your guests: a considered flight of estate wines, premium Riedel or ISO-standard tasting glassware, spittoons, printed tasting mats and sommelier presentation notes.

Your proposal will confirm the exact glassware, equipment, wines and inclusions. Tasting provision is arranged through the venue or an appropriately licensed partner where required; this website does not sell bottles or take alcohol orders.

What should the host provide?

A comfortable table or tasting space, clean drinking water and access for set-up are the essentials. Tell us about seating, access, refrigeration and any venue restrictions when you enquire.

Catering is optional. We can discuss a simple pairing brief with your caterer or help plan a tasting that sits comfortably alongside your meal. Final set-up and arrival arrangements are agreed in advance.

Where do you host, and how does travel work?

Our proposed core hosting area covers Greater Cape Town, the Stellenbosch Winelands, Franschhoek, Swartland and Constantia. Travel and venue arrangements are confirmed in your proposal.

Johannesburg and international requests are welcome by arrangement. Travel time, transport, accommodation and any local hosting requirements are scoped before you commit. Live online sessions use SAST (UTC+2).

Can guests join without drinking alcohol?

Absolutely. Artisanal botanical pairings and selected dealcoholised options can create an equally considered route through the tasting. We build the experience around the people at the table, so no one needs to drink alcohol to take part.

Tell us if you need strictly alcohol-free or halal-suitable choices: dealcoholised products may retain alcohol, and are not automatically suitable. Products, ingredients and certification requirements are checked with you before the menu is confirmed.

Can the food suit vegan, halal or gluten-free requirements?

We can plan vegan and gluten-free pairing briefs, and discuss halal-suitable catering through an appropriate supplier. Please share your requirements when you enquire so they shape the proposal from the beginning.

Final ingredients, certification, preparation arrangements and cross-contact requirements must be confirmed with the venue or caterer. We will not assume that one dietary label covers another.

How much should we allow for the wines?

Choose a discovery, estate or collector-led direction in the event request, then tell us your preferred wine allocation per guest in rand. This helps us shape the scope without assuming that the most expensive bottle is the right one.

Wine allocation is a planning allowance, not a bottle purchase or a final quote. Sommelier time, glassware, travel, catering and any licensed tasting provision are itemised and agreed separately.
