Better service.
Built together.
Training should travel back to the floor. Three focused modules connect wine knowledge, thoughtful recommendations and the details guests remember.
Floor etiquette & precision service
Service that feels calm, capable and quietly exact.
Explore the module
- Glassware handling, presentation and service temperatures
- Decanting aged vintages with care for sediment and condition
- Still-wine opening, pouring and table sequence
- Safe, controlled sparkling-wine service
Back on the floor: A shared service sequence, practical observation and a coaching checklist your team can use on the next shift.
Wine list architecture & thoughtful upselling
A better recommendation begins with listening.
Explore the module
- Wine-list structure, style signposting and accessible price ladders
- Guest questions that reveal taste, occasion and budget
- Menu pairing through weight, acidity, texture and flavour
- Increasing value per table through relevant choices, without pressure to spend or drink more
Back on the floor: An annotated wine-list review, pairing prompts and recommendation role-play grounded in your actual menu.
SASA / WSET preparation & staff benchmarking
A structured next step for ambitious service teams.
Explore the module
- A training-needs review for luxury lodge and restaurant teams
- Independent study support matched to the team’s chosen syllabus
- Blind-tasting drills built around evidence, structure and clear language
- Internal service benchmarks, feedback and a practical development plan
Back on the floor: A baseline skills snapshot and a supported practice plan. Internal benchmarks are not professional certification or an official exam result.
Preparation and internal benchmarking are independent support. The Cape Pour does not claim SASA, WSET, CMS or Cape Wine Academy provider accreditation. Official courses and examinations remain with the appropriate approved body or provider.
A few helpful answers
Before you join us.
Do I need to know anything about wine?
No. Start with The First Pour, or take the palate quiz. We’ll meet you where you are and explain each step.
Can I join without drinking alcohol?
Yes. Observation, aroma exercises and alcohol-free participation can be discussed when planning your session. Tasting never requires swallowing.
Where and when do sessions take place?
Venues and dates are still being finalised. The proposed programme includes in-person Cape sessions and live online learning. All published live session times will use SAST (UTC+2).
Is wine included in the price?
Each confirmed booking will specify materials, venue arrangements and any tasting provision. This website does not offer alcohol for sale; indicative prices are for education services and final inclusions are still to be confirmed.
